Welcome to our Wiki for the Compass Breaking Down Barriers Conference

Title: "Communicating about Communication: Multidisciplinary Approaches to Educating Educators about Language Variation"

Purpose of this site: In our linguistic awareness model, outlined in our paper "Communicating about Communication: Multidisciplinary Approaches to Educating Educators about Language Variation we suggest realistic, cost effective ways to approach educators, including certification and re-certification courses, in-service workshops, websites, and wikis. This wiki of materials accompanies our paper and provides avenues for linguistically aware educators to become resources for information on language variation and linguistic tolerance in their own schools and communities. Our website also provides more materials and resources for educators: Please visit http://charityhudleymallinson.com/. Our paper and responses to it can be also downloaded (see below).
